The White-whiskered Puffbird (Malacoptila panamensis) occurs from tropical southern Mexico all the way to Columbia. The species often sits quietly in the low to mid levels of the forest watching for succulent insects or other prey. This particular bird was photographed in December, 1999 at Chan Chich Lodge near Gallon Jug, Belize with a Canon EOS3 and a Canon EF 300 F2.8 lens and 2X extender and a flash on Fuji Velvia pushed one stop. A Bogen tripod was also used.
