The Yellow-sided Skimmer (Libellula flavida) is a widespread dragonfly of the eastern United States. The top shot here, of a female, was taken in Taylor Co., Georgia, in July, 2005. The image was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 580 EX flash.

The next 3 images show another female Yellow-sided Skimmer. This one was in the Sam Houston National Forest, San Jacinto Co., Texas, in June, 2009. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 l IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
